Episode 16: Author Andrea Pangilinan Talks Bravery, Jane Austin and Good Words

Today, we talk about bravery. Sometimes art isn’t easy to make. Sometimes the message we have to share or the words we want to write are potentially offensive to someone. How do we push through? How to we put what we are meant to share out into the universe when our subject matter is taboo or controversial?

This episode is not explicit but please do note that we discuss the Romance genre and various mature themes. If you have little ears in the room, or are listening in a public space, consider listening to this episode with headphones.

To discuss bravery on the episode, Erin talks to romance author Andrea Pangilinan. Andrea writes under the pen name Audrey Ryan. She is a self-described: daydreamer, wife and step-mother, and obsessive story consumer. She studied writing in college, dreamt about becoming a novelist and slowly forgot about it when real life took over. With a particular affection for contemporary retellings, adapting Pride & Prejudice to modern day has always been a dream. When she’s not reading and writing, Andrea enjoys talking crazy to her weirdo cat, consuming copious amount of wine and coffee with her girlfriends, and record shopping with her husband. Oh yeah, and there’s that small Jane Austen obsession. That doesn’t take up any time at all.
